Last day of Year 2007

Year 2007 is a year that has many events which really affects my life.

Let talk about a few happy events of the year. (In no particular order)
1. Took my wedding photo shoots
2. Preparing for my wedding and my trip to New Zealand
3. My brother's ROM
4. Have my wedding banquet
5. Went to New Zealand for Honeymoon
6. My brother got his own house
7. My mum's illness is getting better
8. My brother's wedding in Malaysia

There are many more happy occasions but i am not going to list down all or else the list will get longer... LOL

With so many happy events, i thought Year 2007 will be a happy year for me until a few sad events happened.

The saddest event for me was that My granny passed away. She was still ok when i was having my wedding in July. Who would expect that she just passed away just like that. It is really sad for my whole family. Although my granny is a naggy old lady but she is still nice to us.

There is another event that is sad but i am not going to write that down cos sad thing should not be jointed down.. Right..

We should be happy always.

LET'S LOOK AHEAD FOR A BRAND NEW YEAR !!!

HERE I COME, YEAR 2008!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE.

X'mas Party in Office

On 24th Dec 07, my company organised an X'mas party with a small token of $3 from the participant. I am not sure if it the $3 is the culprit or otherwise, Not many people registered for it when we last counted on 21st Dec 07. On the actual day, almost a 100 of people join in, so it is not so bad though..

As i am the game organiser, i need to be at the venue earlier to make sure everything goes well. There is a delay in starting off the party as the food didnt arrive at the stipulated time. To keep everyone awake, i started one game know as Folding Newspaper.

It is a simple game. Each team comprises two members and all they need to do is to keep their body on the surface area of the newspaper. The surface area will get smaller as the newspaper are being folded into halves each round. The only team remains will be the winner. As the newspaper become smaller, there is no way it can be folded and a tie break is being down and a team of woman won the game.
After this game, lunch begins. I didnt eat much as i didnt feel like eating. After 30 minutes, we did a gift exchange for the first 20 people. Then, the second game started.

It is obstacle game and the team have to go through 3 sets of obstacle. First obstacle is to find the chocolates hidden inside a basin full of other items like straws, flour, pebbles and small items. Next obstacle is passing of rubber bands through the use of straws. All team members will line up in straight line holding the straws with their mouth and pass the rubber bands through the straws. All 10 rubbers must go through the process and into the container place next to the bench. Last obstacle is to eat up the pocky sticks hanging on a string. First team to complete the three obstacles wins.

Before we start the game, one of the guy of a team was not spontaneous enough to play as there is flour involved. There was delay for a while cos i need to a replacement for him. Dont understand why he is such a big size guy, so worried about the flour which can be dust off easily.

I was really disappointed and a few of my friends thought i am going to drop my tears.. LOL.. Nevertheless, the game still proceed and they have a great fun. As time is running short, we couldnt play more games and we proceed to lucky and gift exchange.

Here are some of the photos of the event.

Learning A new Craft

I went to my friend, Jullie's house to learn Crocheting. It is similar to knitting but it uses only one knitting needle instead of two. Moreover, if there is a mistake on the looping, it can be unstitch easily but for knitting you have to unpick it.

The first thing taught by Jullie is how to how the yarn and the needle. As i am a left hander, she need to demostrate to me many times to make sure i am clear how to hold them. After that i tried to hold it and it seems easy to hold them. The difficult part to start moving your fingers to release and tightening the yarn.

After that, she demostrate to me on how to do the basic step - Doing Chain. Chain is the basic step to start. When i saw her how to do... it seems so easy but it is NOT!!!

Just doing chain alone, you need to take note a few things. The chain cant be too small cos it will be very tight which is no good as you need the loop to do other loop such as single chain loop or double chain loop. If the basic chain is too big, the final outlook of the pattern will be of very big loop thus not nice.

Just doing the chain alone, i spent near to 3 hours just trying to make it of the correct loop. My fingers were aching. Jullie said that that it is norm to feel the pain as it is first time doing it. I think it is because my fingers are too stiff.

After doing the chain, Jullie taught me on the single chain loop which will loop into the chain. The first set is also not easy but the subsequent loop is much easier. after i finish the 2nd loop, it is already 6pm. It is time for me to go as i am meeting my mum n sister for dinner.

Jullie gave me a small ball of yarn to practice before i buy my own yarn. She said she can lend me the needle but i told her it is ok as i buy it and do the practicing. I want to learn this technique so that i can handmade my own gift for family and friends.

She have many crocheting books and she said i can borrow them if i want to.

Now, i am going to practice every night so that i can make my first crocheting this weekend. After that i am going to ask Jullie to teach me the double chain loop and i can borrow patterns from her.

Jullie, thanks for teaching me the basic technique of crocheting.

Friend's Wedding

I attended one of my polymate's wedding last night. He just returned from his business trip in US a week ago and yesterday was a BIG day from him. Hasnt seen him since my wedding in July 07. He looked thinner than before. I bet he didnt eat much Fast Food in US. LOL.

Reached the hotel at around 7.30pm and there are still alot of people have not arrived.
Invitation card says "Dinner commerces at 7.30pm sharp". Typical Singaporeans - Never punctual for a wedding reception.

Have a chat with my friends and of course the groom too. Seen the photos they took, nothing too fanciful. Still preferred my own photos. *satisfying look*

After 1hr and 15 mins of wait, the dinner finally started at 8.45pm. the newlyweds march in with a chinese song "Ai heng Jian Dan" by David Tao. Then, we were shown with the bride fetching video. My friend was quite generous on his ang pows for the "Jie Meis"

Liked the vintage car he used for the wedding. Really cool. After that, second march in and champagne pouring. the music used is the same as mine for the champagne pour - "Lover's Concerto" by Kelly Chen

This is really a nice song so many people used it in their wedding. Another thing i discovered too. She also used a crown and her gown is in Turquoise (Bluish- green). I also used a crown but mine is slightly bigger and one of my gown also in Turquoise colour. See Picture

I think the colour and crown is a "IN" thing.

Now back to the wedding reception again. The layout of the wedding reception is good. Service is ok but the dishes was brought in very slow for the first two dishes and in the end, they have to rush and we left at about 11pm. Faint. This is the part i dont like.

The food is ok, like the dessert -Red bean Paste with dumpling , the starter which includes lobster and the duck. Dont like shark's fin though.

On the whole the reception is ok.

Reached home at around 12am. Was so tiring. More weddings to attend for next month. I think this year is a good year to get married.

Finally Exams Over

Hurray!!! Exams Finally over. It is really a tiring November. Tomorrow will be December 1st. Xmas is just 25 days away.. How time flies.

Need to get ready for my xmas presents for my nephews and nieces..

Realising

I realised that it is not good to be too trusting. I always trust people who i think i can trust. It turns out otherwise and i got hurt in the end.

At least till now, i believe that only your family and very close friends can be trusted.

Why the world is becoming like this??? Why can we live in a harmony place???

Sad Event

28 September 07 was a sad day for my whole family and relatives. My granny had passed away.

On the morning of 28 sept, my mum called to inform that my granny was in critical condition. All of us quickly rushed down to hospital.

Before we get to see her, she had passed away. She left this world just like that. My family & relatives take turns to take care of her during night to the morning until the morning shift nurses started work. (There wasnt many nurses around during the night shift). On that fateful morning, no one was on her bedside yet as my youngest aunt have not reached.

She died of cancer implications and water in lungs. She died at the age of 89. When i arrived, i took a last look of her at the bed. She died peacefully.

It was extremely sad for my whole family as she stayed with us all these years. Although she was naggy at times but she really adore us. My brother was her favourite.

On the same day, we proceed to prepare for her funeral. It is a 5 days funeral. On the last day of the funeral, all of us is unable hold on our emotions anymore and crying voices were heard.

As burial is no longer allowed, we had to cremate her. It is was too much for us to handle especially my youngest aunt who almost fainted when the coffin was going into for cremation. The whole viewing hall was filled with crying voices. It was extremely sad event.

Till now, we can still feel the pain. I believed this pain will be with us forever

Granny, We Misses You!!!

Lucky

Last weekend, i went to jurong point to run some errands. I knew there is an event going on so i walked to the centre stage to see the event.

When i reach there, the host, Lily and Mary from Yes 933 are asking people to participate the last game, Charades (to get the answer for 5 questions in shortest time) in a group of 3. As there is not much people want to join.. only one team on stage. Finally, they say if you are a group of two and short of one person, come to the stage and will look for the 3rd person, so i raised my hand to say i want to play.

i was teamed wz two china guys. Another group is a group of friends. So the first group begins first. They took 3 mins and 49 secs to guess 4 questions correctly. So it is my team to begin. The china guy who is suppose to demostrate and let us guess is lousy. With stroke of luck, i am able to figure out what he is demostrating. All 4 questions are answered by me and the last question was difficult cos i couldnt figure out what he is doing. So it is a tie for both teams.

One more question is being demostrate by the host. The rule is that you must raise hand before answer. I only know part of the answer but i still raise my hand. who knows, the other team didnt raise hand and shouted out the answer. So in the end i gave the same answer and it is the correct answer.

The host gave another chance to that team (they are the one who gave answer first) as almost $700 of worth of prizes is awaits the winning team.

So next question was demostrate, within seconds.. i have the answer so our team won.
The two china guys knew that i put in the most effort so they say i should take more of the prizes. At least they know i am the one helping to win prizes. Luckily i am not the one demostrating, if not they wont win.. LOL.

We won the following prizes:
$150 Courts Vouchers (3 cards of $50 so each of us have one)
One delonghi vacuum cleaner
Four Yes 933 Jin Qu Jiang Concert tickets worth $98 each

Consolation Prize for the other team: $60 Courts Vouchers

They are the ones who say i should take more of the prizes and ask me to choose.. so i said i want the vacuum cleaner and two tickets. The other two tickets is for them. ( i want to be fair to them although they didnt have any effort in winning)

But they dont want the tickets cos they dont want to watch. Then i ask them how.

They say give them the courts vouchers i have, the 4 tickets and vacuum cleaner to me lor.. So i say OK.. I dont want to go on further cos the organiser is leaving soon.

4 tickets = $392, Vacuum Cleaner = $149 so total is $541. The two china guy shared the $150 worth of Courts voucher
I am lucky to win so much prizes..

Hope my luck will continue and let me win the TOTO.. : >

Month of September

September is a hottest Birthday month. In my family, there are total of 4 persons celebrating their birthdays. My Dad, my brother, my youngest sister and my husband. Dont know what should i gave them. As for my Dad, already gave him a dinner treat together wz my family. Maybe give ang pow for my brother & sister so they can decide what to buy themselves. This is the easier and faster way. No need to rack my brain. LOL.. Still deciding whether to do that cause it so not sincere.

As for my Husband.. Maybe Maybe..Still thinking but definitely wont be ang pow cos he is older than me. LOL

I also have two close friends' whose birthday are on September. Definitely will send them birthday wishes on that day itself. As for present, it is a secret.

Benefits for Student

Last weekend, it is the annual comex fair. As i was sick, i didnt get a chance to look for the things i want so i ask my brother to get it for me as he is getting stuff at the fair too.

I asked my brother to get me a potable hard drive. He got me a 80GB hard drive at $99. It is from Maxtor. It is a great seller which most authorised dealer had sold out during the fair.

My brother also got a good catch as he got a student deal for a laptop. MOE will subsidised $500 if you are a student buying the particular model of the HP laptop . They will check on your IC to make sure you are a student before you can get the special price. If not, you have to pay for the original price of $1999

Recently, i also bought original software from school at a much lower price as it is a collabration of the school & the software company. It is a great deal of savings.

Mobile companies also have student's packages which allow great saving on you phone bill too.

It is really nice being a student especially to get such a great deal on expensive stuff.

PS: Not as part time student though as it will be very tiring as you need to cope with work & study.

Sick

Last week, I was sick again due to gastrics. I have been eating regularly but the gastrics still came to me. I think i am stuck with it. Just hope it doesnt relapse again. Pray to God..

Poor Service

Today, i went for my facial. It supposed to be on monthly basis but i was too busy to visit monthly so it almost 2 month plus before i make this appointment. At this place, the facial consultant is always not the same as this place want the customer to enjoy different services & techniques of their consultants.

All along, i have a good experience with the consultant until today. I was late for 20 minutes as something cropped up. When i arrived, I apologised for my lateness and the consultant was waiting for me.

The process such as cleansing, clearing the pores and explaining my problem is doing fine until the final process of putting mask on my face. Mask mixture was flowing to my ear. I am not sure if the consultant is too new or she didnt notice it. I signalled to her and she say wait for the mask to dry and she do help to clean the mask that flowed to my ear.

I thought everything was OK until she removed the mask and the service is over. I notice a piece of dry mask and scraps of mask was left on my ear. OMG... I was so disappointed. As a service person, if you make some mistakes during your service, you must make sure to solve the problem.

It seems like she didnt bother to check if the mask was removed throughly from ear. When i ask if she have any side mirror for me to check again if mask was left behind, she did check briefly for me and say sorry but i cant feel the sincerity.

Next time round, if she is going to serve me, i will sure reject.

Stressful

I am not stressful about work but about study. This semester, many subjects are of project based group work. I even have to do my Final Year Project. (FYP) So much reading is required for my FYP

The project based group work also need time to do and must have good coordination to ensure the project turns out good as the weightage is not small

HW210 - 100% project based. (5 in a group, The same group of people except we have a member who is a stranger)
MP3011 - 50% project based, 50% Exams (3 in a group, the same group of people)
MP4007 - 40% project based, 60% Exams (Havent group yet, most probably the same group of people)

Just pray hard that i am able to complete the task and do well for my subjects

God, Please bless me with good luck!!!

Danger II

Seems like Mr. Penguin is trying to launch an "attack" today. Mr. Penguin didnt inform X on certain things. Luckily X is not stupid. X ask around first and bingo.. X know about that something without approaching Mr. Penguin.

Today, BATMAN is being "attack" by Z indirectly. Mr. A came and tell something on rumours. Z immediately take the opportunity to retaliate back to BATMAN. The sentance made by Z was something like "Dont believe in rumours, must ask directly" X also pointed out"Always ask the people who are involved in, instead of listening to rumours".

BATMAN used to join in the conversation even it doesnt involve BATMAN. This time round, BATMAN didnt join in.. It is becos BATMAN know that X & Z know BATMAN is spreading rumours or BATMAN just feeling gulity of spreading rumours??

Day 11 to Day 14 - Christchurch & Kaikoura

Continue from previous blog dated 30 July 07.

Day 11

With cold weather on Day 10, we wake up slightly late and leave the hostel at around 10am. Today we are going to drive back to Ashburton before heading for Kaikoura on Day 12.

Ashburton is a major service centre for the local farming district, Ashburton sits between the Rakaia and Rangitata Rivers. When European settlers first arrived here, the area was a dry, tussock-covered expanse with hardly any trees.

On the driving route, we passed by a few small towns such as Geraldine and there were many beautiful scenary en route so we stopped our car to take photos. By the time we reached Ashburton, it is around 5plus. We started to look for our accommodations and we couldnt find one as they are either fully booked or very expensive. In the end, we decided to drive for another 2 hours to Christchurch instead as there are vacancies available in Holiday Park.

We finally reach Christchurch at around 8pm but we couldnt find the holiday park and we keep going around the city of Christchurch. Finally we found it after 30 mins of drive. Faint.

We get a cabin with kitchen facilities and we cooked for our dinner. We are famished. We get to bed after shower which was a shared camp facilities.

Day 12

We start our drive at 8am to Kaikoura. Kaikoura is 3 hrs drive from Christchurch. Kaikoura is a base for wildlife experiences of all kinds – it’s also a great place to eat crayfish (in the Maori language kai means food, koura means crayfish). The environment is truly spectacular – the village is caught between the rugged Seaward Kaikoura Range and the Pacific Ocean.

The purpose of going to Kaikoura is to watch Sperm whale which are largely found in Kaikoura. Upon reaching Kaikoura, we make our booking with I-site for our whale watching at 12.45pm. This whale watching is not cheap. NZ$130/Adult. Although it is expensive but since we had drive for 3 hours, cant possible to have a waste trip.

As there was 45 minutes before the activity, we decided to have light lunch. Since Kaikoura is near to the sea, taking seafood definitely is the right choice. Wanted to try on the crayfish which Kaikoura is famous for but thought that we might not have enough time to eat in a restaurant so we chose a cafe instead. I took Fish and Chips which is cheap and good while my husband took Hotdog as he dont really fancy seafood.

At around 12.35pm, we drive to the location for the whale watching event. It is just 3 minutes drive. At around 1.15pm, we were told to board a coach so they can drive us to the Bay to take the cruise (Many people signed up this event). The sea was rough and many people vomitted on the way to the high sea. I vomitted only on the way back to the shore. Hai..All my fish and chips gone.

We saw total of 4 Sperm whales which considered a good trip as normally, only 3 whales can be seen. The whale is 18m long and they were so hugh. On our way back to the shore, we saw a school of Dusky Dolphins which is even a rare opportunity as told by the guide. There were a total of 1000plus dusky dolphins and they are flipping and diving happily in the sea.

As the cruise is a 3 hours trip, by the time we reached the shore, it is almost 4.30pm. It was a great trip as we got to see so many wild mammals.

Day 13

We drive back to Christchurch. Today is the last day for our trip in South Island of New Zealand.
Since it was a Saturday, we went to the weekend market at the Arts Centre. There were shops selling all sort of food and I tried on the Thai vegetable nuggets and my husband tried on German sausages. It was nice taste for the sausage.

We also do some last minute shopping at the market and my husband bought 3 Paua Shells which he had been looking for it and he finally got it cheap and nice at a weekend market. We do found some shops in Kaikoura selling the Paua shells but they were all expensive.

At night, we drive to a Liqour shop to buy red wine for his eldest brother. During payment, the cashier ask me for my license to verify my age. The rule is that if they feel any customer is under age 25, they have the right to check the identification. OMG!! I was underage in the eyes of New Zealanders. Nevertheless, i showed them my driving license for verification. They have the "Puzzled" look

Day 14

Today, we need to depart Christchurch back to Singapore. On our way to return our car, we dropped by at Subway to get a foot long of sandwich. The rental company drive us to the Airport for our departure.

During check in, we were told that one of our hand luggage exceeded the permitted size and weight. So we removed some of the items and acts a separate item to be carried up to the flight. Instead of one bag, it become three bags which is OK to hand carry on board.

What the difference of carrying one bag or three bags? To me it is of no difference as you carry the same amount of weight on board. As the flight for delayed due to the fact that the flight arrived Christchurch late.

At around 11.45am, we boarded our flight back to Singapore. As the flight is not full, we constantly have food served. This was the first time i was served with different food and snacks such as Tim Tam and Apples.

Really misses my trip to New Zealand. Will definitely return to New Zealand.

Eve of National Day

As today is the eve of National day, radio has been playing national day songs since morning. I am puzzled with one thing, why only played it when it is near to National Day??

Cant they play it every now and then?? LOL

This Year National Day Theme song, "There is no place i rather be" is a nice song. This song really reflect the life in Singapore. Personally, i like the song. I also realised one thing, whenever Local Songbird, Kit Chan is selected to sing the National Day Theme Song, the song tends to be a nice one. Not sure it is because the singer is Kit Chan or so coincidentally that there is nice song for Kit Chan? This will remain a mystery.

Movie

Last Weekend, I went to watch Transformer with my husband near our home. Although the show has been screening for quite a while but personally feel that it is a indeed a right choice to watch it.

We left our house at 6.20pm and reaches Jurong Point at around 6.30pm. We are trying our luck if there is tickets available for the show "Transformer". There are still tickets available for the 6.30pm show. We asked if the show had started and we are being told that it will be starting in 5 minutes time. We hesitated for a while and decided to watch even though it is the front 6 rows.

As my husband is the one who wish to watch this show, so i asked him to go in first while i queue for some popcorn and food. (Transformer used to be boys' toy)

When i got into the cinema, the show started and i missed a bit of the beginning but nothing major. The storyline is nothing that fantastic but the actions of the robots transforming from cars were indeed magnificent. I believed that the producers sure spend alot of time to get the action done. I wish to have the car like the main lead. Life will be interesting with such car.

Never regretted watching this show.

National Day

This Thursday, 9th August 07, is Singapore Birthday. Hmm....42 years old for Singapore. When i was young, i was very excited as i get to see many performances and especially fireworks. I even participated in one of the event when i was secondary two. The Event is flashcard. It is really fun.

As i grow older, i am no longer excited about it. Now, national day to me, it is just a public holiday for me to stay at home and a reminder of my close friend's birthday. So not Singaporean..LOL

This national day, i am meeting my friends for lunch but we had not decided what to eat, so just hope that we can find good food.

Frequent Asked Questions

After my return to Singapore, there are three questions that are frequent ask by my friends and relatives.

Question 1
How is your trip to New Zealand?

Question 2
What had happened to your face, black patches around mouth area?

Question 3
When going to have baby, Any Plans?

It is a breeze answering question 1 and 2 but i really dont know how to answer question 3 as i do not have answer to it.

My answer for Question 1
New Zealand is a beautiful place. If you like nature, you will definitely like New Zealand. Must go if never being there before.

My answer for Question 2
As New Zealand is very cold and i have dry and sensitive skin, that why i have patches near to my mouth. It will take about 1 - 2 weeks to be back to normal.

My answer for Question 3
I will hesitate for a while before saying "No plans yet". Then another question will popped in "Why Not" and i have no answer to it. The reason i hesitated as i know that no matter what answer i gave, there bound to be a second question so i hope that by hesitating will help to solve my problem in not answering with satisfying answer.

Pregnancy seems to be a distant journey for me as i dont foreseen myself getting pregnant. LOL. I believe in "Let nature runs it course", "If it is meant to be, will be" & "Child is a god's gift". When God thinks that it is time for me to get pregnant, it will be. There is Chinese saying"Shi Ni De, Jiu Shi Ni De".

Upon arrival of the visitor centre of Mt Cook Village, we looked around the visitor centre to see what we can do at this place. We decided to do trekking to KEA point. In this area you are able to see Mt Cook clearly and other mountains.

The trekking took about 2 hours (to and fro). On the way of the trekking, the surrounding environment was so beautiful and there are snow frost lying around on the ground. It was a relaxing trek. Upon reaching KEA Point, we sit at the bench to have our lunch. It is was so relaxing with mountains surrounding you. This cant be done in Singapore.

On our way back to the visitor centre, we met an artist. We chat for a while He has been drawing for 35 years and he stay at the West Coast of New Zealand. He used to be a national park ranger but because of his passion to drawing, he decided to give up his job and became an artist. He never regretted his decision and he was extremely happy he made this decision.

He told us we need to do something we are passion about, rather than forcing ourselves to do something we dont like. I agreed with him but in reality, it is difficult to fulfill this. I hope i can be like him one day.

On the way to Lake Tekapo, we went to a salmon farm. We fed the salmon and they are so excited with the food. We had raw salmon at the farm and it is worth the $ spent. The raw salmon were so fresh. Thumbs up.

Do a little shopping at Lake Tekapo. Bought shoes for my mum and myself. Furry shoes. Can keep my legs warm.

At night, we went to Mt John for a star observatory. It was a clear sky and we are able to see the stars clearly. The guide is from Finland and she explained in details. Thumbs up for her.
We even get to use the telescope to view stars such as Jupiter. It is really a good experience although it is extremely cold. We wore alot of clothes to keep warm.

Next Stop - Christchurch & Kaikoura.

A Glance of my weekend.

Last Saturday, i went to The Picturehouse for my body massage to relax my body. After one hour, i felt so relax. After that, i headed back to my mum's place to rest and to use the internet. I was trying to upload my wedding photos at my mulitply but it took ages.. In the end i gave up.

In the evening, my husband and myself went to his brother's house for dinner with his mum. I also distribute the gifts i got for them. I had forgotten to bring my sister in law's gift. Went home at around 11pm. As we are tired, we slept early that day.

The next day, my husband need to work so i was tidying the house alone.. After a while, my brother in law called. We met up for lunch as one of their aunt came to Singapore. This aunt lived in Melbourne for 20 years and she is back for holiday at the same time to visit his younger son, who just started work in Singapore three weeks ago.

After lunch, i brought this aunt and his son to my house and show her all the video and wedding photos as she missed my wedding due to some commitment. At around 7pm, my husband came home and we have dinner together. We have a long chat.

The last weekend is really a makan session and i didnt do much.

Christchurch Photos

Here are the photos taken at Christchurch City.Didnt take much photos at this city as it didnt really attracted to me and we kind of feel it is about the same as Adelaide which i went 4 yrs ago. Christchurch is known as the sister country of Adelaide which means they have the same environment and the pace is about the same. Seattle is also the sister country.

Day 7 to Day 9 - Queenstown & Wanaka

Continue from the last blog of my NZ trip.

Day 7

Rise early in the morning to start our road journey again. Next stop is Queenstown. It is 174km away from Te Anau. The resort town of Queenstown is sophisticated and fantastically scenic. Its lake and mountain landscape is suited to almost any kind of adventure

We reached Queentown at around 10plus in the morning so we look for our stay but not able to check in till 2pm. After that, we walk around the city before we stop at Brazz for our Lunch. When we got in, we are not able to order for lunch yet as it is not 12pm yet. It is only 11.30am so the waitress suggest we come back at 12pm or have a drink first. As outside is very cold and windy, probably 3 or 4 degrees, so we decided to have a drink first.

The breakfast menu is from 8am to 12pm. OMG, up to 12 noon still consider breakfast. Moreover, the breakfast is super huge. I tink it is good enough for 2 persons to share one plate.

At the strike of 12 noon, we order our lunch. As it was Sunday, there is a Sunday roast. Kin Mun ordered the Lamb roast and i ordered the traditional lunch special which New Zealanders like. Steak and Kidney pudding.

The portion are big especially the Lamb roast. The lamb was so tender. Really very nice. As for my lunch, it not too bad, just that the pudding is too filling and kidney got a bit of smell but still ok. if you dun like organs of animal then the roast will be a better choice. Roast is only available on Sunday.

After lunch, we do some shopping for our relatives and friends. Spend quite a lot in buying souvenirs. After that , we went to the lake nearby to see people doing adventurous activities like Jet boating.

As Queenstown is well know as a place for indulgence so night time is still bustling. Finally, i can do some night activities. We drive around in the city before we stop at Finz under for our dinner.
Kin Mun have steak while i have cod fish. It is not cheap to have dinner in NZ. The cod fish is nice but it is too small piece. we also had chocolate brownie as dessert. It was so mouth watering for the brownie. There was icre cream on top of the hot brownie. Hot and cold melts in my mouth. So nice.

Day 8

We decided to go for SKI at Coronet Peak at Queenstown. It was just 25 minutes drive. We went downtown to make a booking but alas, we missed the morning package for beginner which cost NZ$97/Adult. If to go for half day, it cost NZ$151/Adult so we booked the beginner package for the next day. The package consists of 2 group lessons, lift pass and ski equipment rental.

Since we are not able to Ski, we decided to drive up to wanaka to go to Puzzling World. You are able to find all sort of puzzles and illusions. There was a a great maze and both of us tried on it. It is really fun there. We are there for the whole day.

After that we drive back to Queenstown to rest.

Day 9

Skiing Day. Horray. This is my first time doing SKI. We have our lessons at 10.20am so we need to be at the peak at around 9.15pm as we need to register, take our ski equipments. Ski equipment consists of a pair of poles, a pair of ski boots and boards.

It was super cold at the peak. It was about minus 3 or 4 degrees. At 10.20am, we met with our ski instructor. His name is Simon and he was handsome and humorous. He taught us how to use the poles and lock the boots to the board.

After that, he teaches us how to ski on one boots, then two and how to jump with our ski boards, how to stand up if we fell. Very detail for teaching a beginner. The first lesson end at 12 noon. Second lesson start at 2pm. So for 2 hours, we ski around. We even go to magic carpet and try to ski down at a higher peak. Magic carpet is a conveyor belt which transport us up to the higher ground of the area.

At 2pm, Simon taught how to make bigger turns and to slow down. He led us to a much higher ground which is steeper to ski around. At this area, the magic carpet is malfunction so we need to stand without our boards clip to the boots. We really have a great time at the peak. Good time ended fast and it is 4pm and it is time for the peak to close. We returned our ski equipments.

If i have another chance, i will definitely Ski again. We didnt stay at queenstown for another nite, instead we drive to Lake Wanaka and stay there. Next stop - Lake Tekapo & Mount Cook.
